Shanti Monteiro
Clinical Psychologist

Shanti Monteiro is an experienced clinical psychologist located in the Brunswick area committed to providing personalised, evidence-based assessment and psychotherapy in a warm, compassionate and supportive environment. Shanti’s approach to therapy is to compassionately guide people towards gaining a deeper, more insightful understanding of, and relationship with themselves, the way they relate with others (relationship patterns) and the way they relate with the world around them.

Shanti employs a holistic approach when working with clients, tailored specifically to their needs. Her main therapeutic approaches include; Psychodynamic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness. Shanti believes that trauma is somatic (physiological), affective (emotional), psychological and spiritual and as such, the therapy needs to address all these aspects of a person. Each individual needs a tailored approach to treatment where they feel safe, supported, in control and able to make decisions about their journey.

Debbie Hocking
Clinical Psychologist | EMDR practitioner | Clinical Hypnosis

Debbie Hocking is an experienced clinical psychologist who believes that the mind and body have an innate ability to heal when met with the right conditions, and a safe and secure relational environment. She is committed to working collaboratively with clients in treatment planning, and views the therapeutic relationship as a mirror of past and current, and pathway to future, relationships.

As an integrative therapist, Debbie does not ‘cut the person to fit the coat’ and approaches therapy with a psychodynamic lens, drawing on a range of evidence-based treatments. She works thoughtfully with the notion that ‘the past is always in the present’ and her primary modalities are EMDR, Schema Therapy, and clinical hypnosis. She has undertaken specific training in these modalities and employs a combination of these approaches based on individual treatment plans, which are periodically reviewed as part of treatment, to prevent ‘therapeutic drift’.
