Salwa Benyamin
Salwa Benyamin is a provisional psychologist with more than 16 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based psychological care to individuals across different stages of life and circumstances.

She has a special interest in trauma, having supported survivors of sexual violence, torture, forced displacement, and complex trauma across humanitarian, clinical, and community settings. Salwa has worked in Australia and internationally, including with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and individuals navigating systems of injustice and marginalisation.

She holds an overseas Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology, and her qualifications are complemented by extensive ongoing training in a range of therapeutic modalities.

Salwa works with adults and young people facing a range of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and difficulties related to identity, attachment, and relationships. Her therapeutic approach is tailored to each person’s unique needs, drawing on evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Narrative Exposure Therapy. She is currently training in EMDR therapy to further support trauma recovery.

Salwa is known for her warm, non-judgmental presence and her ability to create a safe space for clients to explore their experiences. Fluent in both Arabic and English, she offers therapy in both languages to ensure culturally safe and inclusive care.

She is deeply committed to helping people reclaim their sense of safety, agency, and connection, and she believes in the healing power of respectful and collaborative therapeutic relationships.
